Η μέρα της κρίσης

"THE DAY OF THE CRISIS" is largely based on the long-standing Greek economic crisis, and its title stems from a peculiarity of the Greek language, as the word "crisis" has many meanings. The specific meaning in the language is derived from the context and the surrounding text, without this being absolute, as the word, consciously or unconsciously on the part of the author, takes on a double meaning and can be interpreted by the reader in various ways.

When we invited Greek comic book creators to participate in this collection, we deliberately chose not to "guide" them as to what interpretation we wanted them to give to "Day of Crisis." However, it is a given that the majority of the participating artists experienced the economic crisis and were confronted with all the ensuing

crises that it engendered.

All the works in this volume were published in Efimerida ton Syntakton, the only cooperative daily Greek newspaper, from April 2014 to June 2015, in the weekly comic insert "Kare Kare," now the only supplement with (and about) comics in the Greek press.

The majority of the country's active comic book creators at the time took part, which gives this collection the character of a record and chronicle of the Greek comic book "scene" of that period.
